ABOUT THE BOOK

In this book, Isabel Pilkington Henniger chronicles the lives of six generations of the Henninger and Hennigar family. Michael Henninger and his nephews Georg, Jacob and Christian all emigrated from Alsace to Pennsylvania in the eighteenth century. Christian, who was caught up in the American Revolution, fought first for the Pennsylvania Flying Camp and, after his capture, for the British 84th Regiment of Foot. Granted land in Nova Scotia on his discharge from the 84th, Christian settled in Hants County. This book is based on extensive research in early historical documents and identifies not only the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents of Christian and his two brothers, but also lists the children of Michael, Georg and Jacob Henninger, and the children and grandchildren of Christian. Included are maps, genealogical summaries and charts, and many fascinating photographs.
